This is a new app out for both Android and IOS formats. It will allow you to hit a button on your phone and send a message and your GPS coordinates to a list of family and friends from your address book. I have looked into this for my kids phones....you might consider doing the same thing.

Welcome to DataMe – the replacement app to ‘contacts’ for your
mobile. DataMe automatically ensures the contact details in your phone
are always up-to-date, and makes staying in touch really easy.
• Enter your details once; send them to your selected friends’ phones.
• Tailor how much information you send to friends on an individual basis – DataMe never goes to people you don’t want it to.
•
You don’t have to tell your friends if you update any of your details
– their phones will instantly be updated, and vice-versa, when you
change yours.
• DataMe is available in many languages, for staying in touch with friends and colleagues in different countries.
• Store phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Skype and Birthdays.
• Call and email directly from DataMe.
• See the percentage of information you have for each contact, request additional details to fill in any gaps.
•
All data is password-protected and backed up – one less thing to worry about if you lose or replace your phone.
• DataMe is FREE – there are no fees or charges!
